"Your request couldn't exist completed. Please try again" fault when you try to search the inspect log in Function 365

Problem

When a user tries to search the audit log in the Office 365 Security & Compliance Center, the user receives the following error message:

Your request couldn't be completed. Delight try once again, and if the problem persists, contact your administrator.

Cause

The user isn't assigned to the View-Only Inspect Logs role or the Inspect Logs office in Exchange Online.

Solution

Create a custom role grouping in the Exchange admin center, add the View-Just Inspect Logs or Inspect Logs role, and then add the user equally a member of the new role group. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Commutation admin eye. For more data, see Exchange admin heart in Exchange Online.
  2. Click Permission, click admin role, so click New ( ) to create a new part group.
  3. On the 'New part grouping' page, do the following:
    1. Specify a name for the part group.
    2. In the Role box, click Add together ( ), add the View-Only Audit Log or Audit Log role, and then click OK.
    3. In the Member box, click Add ( ), add the user, and then click Save.
